SMILEY JOINS WAGENFELD LEVINE IN PHILADELPHIA
Local Attorney Brings Nearly 30 Years of Experience

PHILADELPHIA, PA (July 6, 2007) – Barry W. Smiley, an experienced trial attorney who has spent his entire career in Philadelphia, has joined the local office of Wagenfeld Levine.

“Barry’s experience in some of Philadelphia’s most prestigious law firms and insurance companies translates well to our business, but we hired him because he’s a natural leader,” said the firm’s Managing Partner, Ed Levine.

“He knows insurance defense and he knows how to win for our clients,” Levine added. “He also knows Philadelphia very, very well.”

Smiley is a senior trial attorney, who has specialized in defense of products liability, premises liability, construction accidents and catastrophic motor vehicle, but his broad range of experience over nearly three decades includes many legal avenues.

He has represented the Philadelphia Housing Authority and the School District of Philadelphia. He has also worked with, or for, numerous insurance companies and their local offices, including Zurich North America, State Farm, St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance, Royal Insurance and CIGNA.

Smiley is a graduate of Temple University School of Law, where he received his J.D., and Columbia University in New York. He is licensed in Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. and the Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Prior to joining Wagenfeld Levine, Smiley was a senior trial attorney specializing in insurance defense with the firm of Kennedy, Lipski & McDade. Prior to that, he was at Kelly, McLaughlin and Foster where he specialized in defense of products liability, auto, premises liability and bad faith litigation.

Before that, Smiley was at Smyler, Taylor, Smiley & Della Franco, where he handled special assignments for State Farm Insurance Company and Chubb Insurance Co. In the early 1990s, he was with the School District of Philadelphia (1991-1993) where he was the Senior Trail Attorney responsible for defending the District in multiple jury trials, bench trial and arbitrations.
